Community Access Program
The Community Access Program (CAP) was developed to help provide
Canadians with affordable public access to the Internet and the skills
to use it efficiently. Under CAP, public locations like schools,
libraries and community centres act as access points to the Internet
and provide computer training and support.
CAP has been designed by Industry Canada
to help set up public access sites in 10,000 commmunities across Canada
by March 31, 2001. Affordable Internet access means new and exciting
opportunities, skills, and knowledge to all Canadians, regardless of
geographical location. Under the combined efforts of federal,
provincial, and territorial governments, community organizations,
local industry, social groups, libraries, schools, and volunteers,
CAP is helping Canadians take advantage of Internet based services and
opportunities.
