Internet PolicyPolicy on Access and use of the Borden Community Internet Access Site
General
Users who attempt to use library workstations for unlawful purposes, or who electronically or physically abuse the computer, or who install, delete or modify software, or play games on-line with the Borden CAP site computers will lose their computer privileges immediately. The Library reserves the right to report any illegal behaviour to the Military Police. Signed parental/guardian consent is required for users under the age of 18 years for use of the Internet. Parents/guardians will be informed immediately of any contravention of this policy by users for whom they have responsibility. All use of the Borden CAP site will be by prior reservation. A maximum of one person other than the actual user may sit at the computer station, with the authorization of the Librarian. No unauthorized persons will be permitted in the CAP site area. Signature of the acceptance agreement is an acknowledgement by the user, or by the parent/guardian of a user, that users will abide by all CAP site policies and procedures.
Procedures
Note: Library operating hours may change. In this event, announcements will be made via the Borden Citizen, Base Local Area Network (LAN) and on this website so that users are aware of Borden CAP Site availability. Reservations may be made by telephone, by Internet, by E-mail, or in person. Reservations will be accepted for 1/2 hour intervals. If a user wishes to extend their session beyond 1/2 hour, and there is no other reservation booked for the next 1/2 hour period, then the extension will be allowed. (See fee schedule for appropriate rates). All users will read and sign the Agreement Form, and be provided with a brief orientation on the Policy for Access and Use of the CAP Site prior to accessing the Internet for the first time. Failure to comply with the Policy will result in immediate loss of access to the CAP site. The Librarian will prepare the hardware, software and supplies to be used, based on the user requirements at the time of reservation. (See fee schedule for appropriate rates). First-time users will be provided a brief orientation of the equipment available. The user may draw the attention of the Librarian to any problems they are encountering. However, the Librarian will not provide one-on-one training. Training sessions will be provided periodically in the use of computers, various software packages, and use of the Internet. These training sessions will be well advertised. If deemed necessary, changes may be made to this policy and to the Internet Use Disclaimer Form at any time.
