Course Descriptions:
Beginners Workshop: -1.5 days….$110.
Students will learn the foundational Fabric Layering
techniques completing 1 sampler note card to explore the
technique and 1 glass framed picture that captures a
colourful scene of autumn colours, while developing
skill in distance, mid-ground and foreground concepts.
An additional material fee of $20 (adhesive, fabric,
applicators, frame and matting) is required upon
attendance.
Intermediate Workshop:
1.5 days...$100.
Individuals who have completed the initial Beginners
workshop are able to advance their skills, learning the
nuances required to create greater sophistication in
their finished work. Shading, depth, distance and the
center of interest will be the focus of this workshop.
Students will bring basic supplies from the Beginner
workshop (adhesive and applicators) but will have extra
access to fabric based on the needs of their work. A
$10 material fee (supplementary fabric, matting and
framing) is required upon attendance.
Advanced Touches: 1.5 day
workshop….$100.
This workshop provides participants with the finesse
to advance a picture from the basic and mid-detail
structure to embellishments that shout with the level of
detail that viewers seek. We will quest for that
"moment of light". Students will learn shading,
graduated light, or sparkle on water, based on the group
photo (selected by consensus) we will work on. Access
to a computer and email will allow a photo to be
forwarded, so that critical assessment of the work to be
reproduced is possible, as is selection of the
appropriate fabric to fulfill the work. This allows
students to own the finished product, using all the
skills previously taught and allows for an individual
piece that speaks of interpretation of the technique.
A
$10 material fee (supplementary fabric, matting and
framing) is required upon attendance.
One Day Exploration: This is a short workshop from 10:00 a.m
-2:00 p.m. ...$75.
Participants will learn the technique of fabric
layering, create 2-3 cards and one other
expression, implementing the technique and explore their
creativity. Principles of art are taught, encouraging
observational skills. This is a quick method to learn
the technique, but will allow students explore
creativity to determine interest in the technique.
Floral Workshop: 1 day workshop…$65.
Upon request (not scheduled at this time)
This workshop allows the student to truly see and
break down the exquisite beauty of flowers and then
explore the translation into fabric. Based on
pictures and we will work on the principles of shading,
texture and contrast exploring where they can take
students in capturing this subject.
