He's Got A Superbone!

Oh ya - Rick is also an accomplished trombonist. Actually he plays a plumber's nightmare designed by Maynard Ferguson called a superbone. This valve/slide bone has a huge unique sound and Rick can be heard playing it on his first two recordings, "Endangered Species" and "...the Swing of Things". Rick's mouthpiece of choice is a twenty year old Jet-tone Urbie Green Model "S", customized for Rick.
